About Us

Many University of Michigan students have mental illnesses which require ongoing care. The Campus Mind Works website is designed to simplify access to the wide variety of mental health and academic support resources at the University of Michigan, and provide information to help students stay healthy and manage college life.

Campus Mind Works Mission

  • Provide resources and information to help U-M students succeed in college while managing a mental illness
  • Provide information for families, faculty, staff, and students focusing on ways to support a U-M student with a mental illness

History

Campus Mindworks is the result of the vision of Waltraud (“Wally”) Prechter, a tremendous supporter of the University of Michigan and the Heinz C. Prechter Bipolar Research Program. Following her lead, the Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg and Family Depression Center submitted a proposal for this program to the U.S. Department of Education with support from former Congressman Joseph Knollenberg. The website was developed by the Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg and Family Depression Center and the Division of Student Affairs, in collaboration with schools and colleges across the U-M campus. Campus Mind Works is intended to work in concert with MiTalk, a website designed for all U-M students to learn about mental health and wellness issues.
